What is ANet?

Osarugue “Michelle” Odemwingie is the chief executive officer at Achievement Network. Michelle joined ANet nearly a decade ago as a coach and has since held roles as chief of school and system services and chief of staff, among others. In previous roles, Michelle supported senior leaders with an eye towards the organization’s long-term goals and strategic direction. This includes spearheading ANet’s Breakthrough Results Fund in partnership with five school districts across the country. She worked closely with school and system leaders on ensuring equitable instruction in their classrooms to more deeply understand student needs and the ways school and system leaders empower the educators in their schools.
Prior to joining ANet, she spearheaded the ThinkMath team in California and DC, supporting instructional leaders around math enrichment and intervention programs, as well as supporting new teachers through TNTP and Teach for America. Amrutha Nagarajan is the Chief Service Officer at Achievement Network, where she oversees service to partners across the country and provides tools to strengthen the organization's services. Prior to her current role, Amrutha was the vice president of core model service and founding executive director of ANet's Michigan network and the director of new partnerships, where she led the creation of ANet’s new network launch process, launched the Michigan network, and led the development of district-level diagnostic consulting. Before joining ANet in 2010, Amrutha taught elementary school in Washington, D.C. She received the Teacher of the Year for Elementary Schools award by the DC Teaching Fellows for her success in raising student achievement. Carter Romansky is the vice president of partnership development at Achievement Network, where he oversees marketing and fundraising, as well as several strategic projects related to the organization’s growth. Before joining ANet, he was a consultant at the firm McKinsey & Company in Washington, D.C. Carter has also served as the director of special projects at Citizen Schools, an Education Pioneers Fellow in the Department of Early Childhood at Boston Public Schools, and senior program manager at New Sector Alliance, where he helped launch the New Sector Summer Fellows program. He began his career in the Licensing and Business Development Department of a global top 30 pharmaceutical company, seeking out and structuring partnerships to develop new medicine. Carter is a graduate of Brown University and the Harvard Business School. Outside of work, he enjoys bicycle riding, music you might play at a barbecue, and tacos. Previously, Kimberly Cockrell served as ANet’s chief partnership officer, where she created the vision and strategy to ensure that ANet provides outstanding coaching and advising to current and prospective partners across the country and that ANet’s service leads to changed student learning.  
Prior to her role leading networks, Kimberly was the founding Executive Director of ANet’s Ohio Network, where she worked alongside district, charter, nonprofit and community leaders to pursue data-driven instruction and equity in Northeast Ohio schools. In her earlier years at ANet Kimberly designed innovative professional learning opportunities for leaders and teachers, and she coached schools as a Director of School Support in our Washington, D.C. network. 
Kimberly’s education career began as a founding teacher and later as a principal and Director of Academics in Ohio; she also served as Middle School Director and Director of Assessment and Professional Development at Washington Latin Public Charter School (DC).
Kimberly has a B.A. in English and Cinema from Denison University and pursued graduate studies in Educational Leadership at Antioch McGregor University. Watch this video to learn more about Kimberly!

Ian has nearly 20 years of experience in a variety of nonprofit and educational leadership roles. He was most recently Vice President at FUSE Corps, partnering with local government leaders to launch initiatives aimed at tackling racial inequities in housing, health care, public safety, climate justice and economic development. Prior to FUSE, Ian was a Partner and Senior Strategist at TNTP.  He worked closely with state education agencies, school districts, and charter management organizations in urban and rural communities across the country, designing and leading initiatives addressing critical human capital challenges, school leadership development, district transformation, and professional learning. Ian was also director of the Indianapolis Teaching Fellows program, recruiting and training more than 200 new teachers for high-need schools across the state. He began his career as a special education teacher in Austin, TX. 
Ian earned his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in Arabic and political science. He currently serves as a member of the board of trustees for Prospect Hill Academy Charter School in Cambridge, MA. Watch this video to learn more about Ian!

Chris Rupprecht is the Chief Product Officer at ANet, where he leads ANet’s Product Management, Assessment, Customer Support, and Operations teams. Previously he led Support and Analytics teams at ANet. Before joining ANet, he served as a Senior Campus Director with Citizen Schools, leading Expanded Learning Time programs at three Boston Public Schools. He began his career in education as a teacher in Ogden, UT. Chris is a graduate of Weber State University and Leslie University Graduate School of Education. He completed a certificate in Product and Innovation Leadership from M.I.T. Chris currently serves as the Chair for the school committee of Ayer Shirley Regional School District.

Molly Nacey is the Interim Chief Technology Officer where she oversees ANet’s Engineering team and helps support the company’s long term technology strategy. She has worked in engineering and product strategy as the founder of the consulting company Time For Ventures while also independently building new products and apps. Prior to that she served in various roles including CTO and Head of Product in companies spanning from political and legislative advocacy to fitness and online virtual experiences. She studied Computer Science at Princeton University and initially started her career as a software engineer spending time both at startups as well as four years at Google.

As Chief of Staff, Madeline Brown supports ANet’s leadership team and manages our internal communications and culture team. Madeline previously served as a Coach Impact Lead, as the executive director of ANet’s Louisiana Network, and as an ANet coach. Prior to joining ANet in 2011, Madeline taught high school math and coordinated curriculum, data, and student life initiatives at New Orleans charter school. She was a 2005 Teach For America - Greater New Orleans corps member, where her placements included teaching secondary science and managing a post-Katrina FEMA disaster recovery center. Madeline has a bachelor's degree in microbiology from the University of Maryland. She lives in New Orleans with her husband and two daughters.

Finance professional with over 15 years of experience in industry and public accounting. Proven financial leader with a career of progressive roles in financial planning and analysis, treasury, corporate finance, M&A, due diligence, financial services, financial reporting and accounting. High energy individual with a results driven mindset and a collaborative approach that prioritizes partnering with business leaders across departments to achieve objectives. Coach and mentor. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with Master's degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

Brian Pick is an education leadership doctoral candidate (Ed.L.D) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He previously served as the chief of teaching and learning for the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). Serving on the chancellor’s management team, Brian led the district’s academic work including curriculum, formative assessment, and professional development across the following divisions: curriculum and instruction, early childhood education, special education, English language acquisition, advanced and extended learning, and educational technology/library media programs. Prior to his role as chief, Brian served DCPS as a policy analyst, chief of staff for school management and support, and deputy chief of curriculum and instruction. During his ten-year tenure, Brian led the development and rollout of the DCPS Teaching and Learning Framework, spearheaded DCPS’ successful $30M Race to the Top application, and led the transition to the Common Core State Standards and associated curricula as well as the DCPS Cornerstone assignments. In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded the 2012 National Curriculum Leadership Award by the Council of Great City Schools and the 2016 EPic Change Maker Award from Education Pioneers. Prior to joining DC Public Schools, Brian taught in California as a Teach For America corps member, and he served as an Education Pioneer in Washington, D.C. Brian graduated from Princeton University with a degree in public and international affairs. He studied at the University of Cape Town, completed his teacher credentialing work at San Jose State University, and holds a master’s degree in education policy from the University of California, Berkeley.

For eighteen years of his professional career, David Hardy has committed to playing his part in ending the educational gaps that exist between the haves and the have nots.  As a product of Colgate University (Economics Degree) and Columbia University (Masters in Urban Education and Doctorate 21’), arguably some of the best institutions of higher learning, he didn’t fully understand why he was often one of a few people of color in these spaces until pursuing his M.B.A from Howard University.  These realities have only fueled David to figure out how to make sure the thousands of kids that interacted with him as a teacher all the way up to a superintendent, were given the opportunity to reach their dream so they were not in rooms by themself. His drive has allowed him to lead the state turnaround effort of the second lowest-performing school district in Ohio and arguably the country.  In his capacity as Chief Executive Officer for Lorain City Schools, he assumed the combined responsibilities of the Superintendent and the school board.  Under his leadership, Lorain city Schools received its highest performance marks in nearly a quarter-century moving the district from an F grade to a B grade in the Achievement Gap closing metric, and is touted as being in the top ten percent of the fastest improving school districts in the state of Ohio’s 646 school districts by Superintendent Paolo DeMaria. This type of transformational change has become David’s calling card as he has rendered similar results as the Deputy Superintendent of Academics for St. Louis Public Schools.   Under his leadership, he helped bring Saint Louis Public Schools to full accreditation for the first time in over 15 years.  He has availed this opportunity because of the results he got as a principal in New York City and as a former teacher of the year.   Now in his continued search for a more just society, his consultant work has led him to support school and governmental agencies to address the inequities that exist in their communities.  David embraces his lived experiences and the opportunity to be a member of some of the most forward-thinking organizations and fellowships in the world. Despite the intense pressure, opposition, or political controversy, the constant has been the eventual triumph that created change for the better. The change however has been incomplete and unsustainable because he has found that education is not the problem. Education is a symptom of a much larger system at play. As a former superintendent, he learned the importance of collective impact and how rare it is to create it.  Getting the leader of organizations together, on accord deemed challenging.  Yet, if we are ever going to make the turn as a nation and find ways to get everyone what they need to succeed in life, we have to do it together not alone.   That only happens through intentional redesign, collaboratives, convenings, and unique data analysis that allows for the ecosystems we occupy to become made by change.

John Maycock is the Co-Founder and former president of the Achievement Network. He co- founded the organization in 2005 alongside 7 local Boston schools and helped lead the organization’s service and expansion for almost 12 years. John worked directly with thousands of system and school leaders across the country while at ANet, leading system academic strategy and developing a consulting arm within ANet, focused on system advising across curriculum, assessment strategy and instructional precision. John transitioned to the ANet Board in 2016 to help grow another national non-profit, UnboundEd, focused on spreading high quality open source materials and training to disrupt inequities in education. John currently consults with a variety of organizations in the K-12 space around strategy, business planning and their educational programs. Prior to founding ANet, John was a teacher and tutor in reading, math, and writing for elementary and middle school students and a coach for school leadership teams. John is a graduate of Middlebury College and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Judy Elliott is the former CAO of the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she was responsible for curriculum and instruction from early childhood through adult, professional development, innovation, accountability, assessment, afterschool programs, state and federal programs, health and human services, magnet programs language acquisition for both English and Standard English learners, parent outreach, and intervention programs for all students. Before that she was the chief of teaching and learning in the Portland Oregon Public Schools, and prior to that, an assistant superintendent of student support services in the Long Beach Unified School District in CA.  Judy also worked as a senior researcher at the National Center on Educational Outcomes at the University of Minnesota. In 2012, NYS Commissioner John King appointed her “Distinguished Educator” to help support and oversee the Buffalo City School District Priority Schools. Judy has published over 51 articles, book chapters, technical/research reports and books. She sits on editorial boards for professional journals and is active in many professional organizations. Judy is nationally known for her work in Multi-Tiered System of Supports/Response to Instruction and Intervention.  She has led many successful initiatives and projects in this area and actively continues to support school districts and national organizations in this work. She started her career as a classroom teacher for students with disabilities and then school psychologist. Judy is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo. 

Scott Wells is CEO of Clear Channel Outdoor Americas, which includes out of home advertising businesses in the U.S., Canada, and LatAm, including Clear Channel Airports.  Scott is responsible for vision and strategy across all functions, ensuring Clear Channel Outdoor Americas’ premium locations and increasingly digital technologies help solve marketing challenges for national and local advertising clients.  He joined Clear Channel Outdoor Americas from Bain Capital, where he served as an operating partner.  Prior to his appointment as CEO, Scott served in interim executive leadership roles at the Clear Channel Outdoor in the U.S. and internationally as part of his responsibilities at Bain Capital, a stakeholder in Clear Channel Outdoor.  He also served on the board of Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings from 2008 to 2015.  Prior to joining Bain Capital, Scott held executive roles at Dell, Bain & Co., and AT&T.  In addition to ANet, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Outdoor Advertising Association of America and the Ad Council. Scott received an MBA with distinction from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and received a B.S. from Virginia Tech.

Soji N. Adewumi joined Turnaround for Children in 2019 as the Chief Operating Officer. In her role, she is focused on evolving Turnaround’s strategy, operations and structures so that it can fulfill its mission and deliver its tools and services at scale.
Soji came to Turnaround from the “I Have A Dream” Foundation, a national education equity focused non-profit. There she oversaw the execution of the Foundation’s strategic direction, developed the organization’s capacity for sustainability and growth, and led the implementation of programs and policies designed to raise student achievement and outcomes. Before this, Soji held several leadership positions in program management, organizational design, risk management, and technology implementation in the for-profit sector. Soji began her career as a management consultant advising organizations on using technology and human capital to achieve growth and leading teams to achieve ambitious performance goals.
Soji is a design, data and technology enthusiast who believes that organizational excellence is the foundation for strong outcomes. She holds an Engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is an alumna of the Education Pioneers Fellowship.

Stephanie Wu leads the design, execution, and measurement of City Year’s school services, which are delivered by 3,000 City Year AmeriCorps members in more than 300 schools in 29 cities nationwide. She oversaw the foundational research and development initiative that supported the organization's strategic shift toward addressing the nation's urban education challenge. Before taking on her current role, she held leadership positions across numerous City Year departments, including co-chief operating officer, senior vice president of U.S. Site Operations, and Senior Vice President for Human Resources. She is founder of City Year’s Summer Academy, the organization’s intensive training program for staff and senior corps. During City Year’s first decade, Stephanie was responsible for putting in place fundamental programs supporting City Year’s culture, ideals, and leadership techniques. She developed and led in-school and out-of-school youth programs for City Year corps members, which remain essential to City Year’s work in schools. Stephanie is a graduate of Boston University and came to the organization from the private sector in 1988, serving as a founding team leader in City Year’s original summer pilot. Over the course of her career, she has supported a variety of national service, youth development, and education organizations in the United States, Europe, and Africa as a board member and thought partner. She currently serves on the founding board of Compass Academy, a start-up charter school in Denver, Colorado. In her spare time, she especially enjoys adventures as a sewist and textile enthusiast, exploring cities and traveling with family and friends.

A Stanford University graduate, Xuan's experience includes over a decade of technology leadership roles at startups like Upsider, Roast, Appirio, and Aggressor and technology transformation work with KPMG, Deloitte, and PWC. As recruiting and hiring shift towards leveraging artificial intelligence and big data, Xuan will position and scale Recruiter.com's platform and infrastructure to meet the market opportunity.
Under Xuan's leadership, Upsider (acquired by Recruiter.com) developed an industry leading predictive analytics platform which can cut recruiter sourcing time by up to 40%. Prior to founding Upsider, he served as a Technical Architect, responsible for managing the design and development of large-scale custom development projects. Xuan is passionate about mentorship in software engineering and has designed curricula to better engage junior high and high school students in Computer Science.
