We offer abundant, easy-to-use tools and resources that help you dig into the data and engage it to drive
Behind our tools, products, and services is a dedicated and knowledgeable team who strive to create solutions for educators. Our Engineers work hard to make sure our products function the way they intend to. They drive insights and action through the creation and maintenance of high-quality formative assessment tools. Without the infrastructure that makes it sustainable for our schools to derive critical insights for instructional change, the process of improvement becomes unsustainable for educators.
We know educators can have their own jargon (how many of us know what these acronyms and terms mean–SOAR, building coherence, PLC, vertical progression). Our engineers learn to be fluent in both eduspeak and computer infrastructure coding, mapping and building, translating the engineering pieces into the education output. These digital architects and builders of processes and programs collaborate constantly with each other. They take and apply feedback from internal teams to ensure our software can consistently deliver for our users, and bake team supports and professional growth into their workflows. This talented team shares their “why” for working at ANet, why educational equity is important, how their team contributes to ANet’s mission, and some of their favorite team moments.
“The two main reasons I work at ANet and continue to are the mission and the people. In tech, a lot of places you can work will talk a big game about wanting to do right in the world, but ultimately they are money-making schemes with little care for their impact. When I succeed in my role here, I feel like I might actually be helping people, which is huge. As for the people, I have never worked on an engineering team this collaborative and humble. Often times in tech, you will have teams where everyone is dogmatic in their approach and unwilling to listen or compromise. The engineering team here is truly special in that we all are capable and, most importantly, trust that our fellow engineers are just as capable and intelligent.”
-Hudson C.
“I think ANet has a lot of good ideas and if we can help the education system then that will benefit society.”
-Carl Ö.
“The Engineering team at ANet is one of the kindest, most thoughtful, and most harmonious teams of software developers I have ever known. We all care deeply about the mission, and it comes through in how we treat one another, the way we work with organization as a whole, and the thought we put into every decision in our software, because we understand how all of that impacts the end result for the communities we are here to serve. Despite how small our team is, we do amazing things and focus relentlessly on the goals that serve students and teachers.”
-Morgan S.
“Coming from a family of educators, I know both the challenges and the rewards of the teaching profession, and I am happy to help support that work in a meaningful way.”
-Michael L.
“I feel so fortunate to work alongside such an amazing group of kind, talented, and driven individuals at ANet. I am motivated and grounded by the mission we all share, and it inspires me to strive for my best.”
-Adam L.
“Without well-educated citizens, we will not be successful against the challenges we face in our future. Education, or the withholding thereof, has historically been used as a weapon of oppression. Educational equity is central to a just and prosperous future.”
-Nicolas A.
“I believe a lack of educational (and other) equity produces harm every day and worsens all of our lives.”
-Carl Ö.
“An uneducated community is a vulnerable community.”
-Phillip H.
“I believe educational equity is important to every child as they should have an equal, fair opportunity and access to the right tools to better learn and enhance their knowledge. This is one of the basic needs of the modern world where one needs to be aware of what they read, write and understand.”
-Shashank R.
“Education is a critical building block in a child's life, and for the future of society. In it's current state, education is not a level playing field. Everyone deserves the right to feel empowered in their learning journey. Additionally, innovation and progress occurs when everyone is provided the opportunity to contribute.”
-Brandon M.
"We have the technology." :-)
-Phillip H.
“While we don't work directly with partners, the software we build and maintain is critical to them and to ANet's overall mission. We provide the tools that help our content team build high quality, industry leading assessments. We provide reports and supporting material that help guide educators and coaches based on those assessments. We provide tools for educators to construct and administer their own quizzes. And much more. Finally we've got projects in progress that are going to be crucial in helping ANet to scale its offerings to million students (and well beyond that I hope)”
-Gregory L.
“We empower Anet's mission by designing, developing and maintaining software applications that are used by the schools to provide better education to every child in the country. Our work not only impacts ANet mission but also provides the teachers, students with the tools to advance their knowledge.”
-Shashank R.
“We strive to make it easier for partners to provide high-quality learning opportunities using our software products and services. Our team evolves our software while balancing the need for maintainable solutions that can grow with ANet.”
-Brandon M.
“I truly cherish all of our team dinners. We have such an interesting group of people and the conversations we share over food are something to behold. From fantasy novels to political theory to database optimization, those evenings are fun, engaging and illuminating. It doesn't hurt that everyone is kind, caring and funny to boot.”
-Hudson C.
“The tech industry can be quite toxic to work in. There is a lot of ego and politics on many teams. I am so grateful that our engineering team at ANet is the complete opposite. Everyone on the team is amazing and supportive.”
-Gregory L.
“There was a heated game of Codenames at our last engineering get-together! Despite all the trash talk, we managed to all stay on good terms.”
-Morgan S.
“I have never met another group of engineers whose values so closely resemble my own. ANet seems to attract people with humility, kindness, curiosity, and joy. I consider myself lucky to have found a place among them.”
-Michael L.
“I love our annual Engineering in-person meetings. It is so inspiring and exciting for me to be able to be in the same space with such an amazing talented group of people. We work so well together remotely, but there is something about being in person that just can't be replicated and I cherish both the professional and social benefits of our annual in-person gatherings.”
-Nicolas A.
